BANKED SHALOM

We had to dig real deep in our pockets to find any stoke to make the Banked Shalom happen this year after a terrible winter (snow-wise). Pictures from @Strynsommerski reporting of bad snow conditions did not help. But luckily, Kristoffer Lerånd (@krishtlmth) has pants with shallow pockets! So he convinced Emil (@Backpackface) to end his Surftrip in France and drive 3000 km back to Norway to do a little shoveling. The rest of the crew was surprisingly positive and so we decided to go for it despite the terrifying thought of not having enough snow.
On the way back from France, Emil stopped by Ståle Sandbech to collect The Crown of Infinite speed. Ståle had decided to make more babies so he could not participate this year. Seeing the Crown he realized that there are only 3 more slots to fill before the crown was complete, this sparked joy in a bald mans heart. Once the crew had arrived to Stryn the build started. There was enough snow, barely. The course seemed to guide itself down the mountain avoiding rocks left and right. It did look scary, with some interesting outcomes if someone was to launch out a turn. The ancient rule of not testing the full course left us somewhat worried if people would die.

On Saturday the sun was shining as it always does on the Banked Shalom. More than a hundred people had Registered even though there was only one weeks notice (yeah, we suck at planning). The Banked Shalom, a banked slalom contest where the fastest are the fastet, but the best prices go to super random stuff was ready to begin. The first test riders went flying through the course around 12 o’clock clock and nobody died! The course was actually quite sick.
Even though some previous holders of the Crown were missed (Len, Ståle, Torgeir, Markus), there were some fast people there. Terje (@chocorompe) showed up and he brought Ulrik Badertcher (@ulrikbadetcher) which might have been a bad decision since Ulrik ended up beating Terje with 0,39 seconds. After an awesome day of riding the price ceremony took place at Stryns Cafe. People were stoked and got various prices. Anton Olsen (@antonols1) became the TimeLord guessing 0,07 seconds from his actual time. Other Banked Shalom style prices where: Best bail, Best trick on the hip, Skier on Board, Youngest and Oldest participant and of course number 63.
